Knitwear Care Guide
WASHING
1. Wash the knitwear separately from other items to keep
wool hairs from sticking to other clothes.
2. Before washing, turn the item inside out.
3. Do not use detergents that contain bleach, additives,
colored granules, alkali and their compounds. It is better to use special
detergents for knitwear. Modern phosphate-free powders, shampoos and
conditioners for washing wool and silk carefully handle the fibers, wrapping
them in a thin protective layer. They help your knitwear items become more
fluffy, less crumpled and easier to iron.
4. It is recommended to wash any knitwear by hand, gently
squeezing. It is forbidden to rub knitted items in any case!
5. To avoid shedding and loss of elasticity of the knitwear,
the water for soaking and washing should be the same temperature (not more than
30⁰ C), while the soaking time should be short (up to 30 minutes). Do not soak
knitwear that contains yarn of several colors.
6. When machine washing, select the delicate mode.
7. Do not wring out your knitwear, but gently squeeze with
your hands. Remove the remaining moisture by wrapping the knitted item in a
towel.
8. Dry the product by spreading it on a flat surface away
from the heat source and giving it the desired shape.
9. Iron the product only inside out with a warm iron,
without stretching. It is best to use an iron with a steam generator function
so that the platform does not touch the knitted fabric at all.
STORAGE
It is better to store the knitwear in a folded form, in not very dense stacks. Products stored on
hangers are pulled out and deformed.
Delicate knitwear (silk, cashmere) and knitwear embroidered
with beads are layered with paper for
storage.
If you are preparing knitwear for seasonal storage, do not
forget about moth repellents.
Wash and dry the knitwear well before storing it.
DAMAGE
Occurrence of peeling on knitwear is inevitable due to the
mechanical friction of the knitted fabric during wearing process. The easiest
way to deal with peeling is to remember the damage from friction from belts,
bags, hard inner elements of outerwear (sewn into the side seam composition
tags) and other mechanical effects. The peeling should be removed with a
special brush or peeling machine.
Never cut off loose loop! If the loop is small, it should be
gently pulled out on the reverse side with a blunt needle. If the thread
tightened the whole row, as well as in the case of more serious damage - the
dropped loop, holes, etc. - specialist help is needed. We provide our clients
with paid RITO knitwear repair services.
